Reactive light works great. In low temperature you need an extra battery pack fir backup. Light is powerfull floating not pointing. It covers wild area.

I bought the Petzl Swift RL (new 1100lm model) version before Christmas for mountain hiking at night. This is without doubt the best headtoch I've ever owned... ok to be fair the negatives first... it's a little more expensive, lacks a dedicated on/off switch like some of the cheaper models and can only use a rechargeable (included) lithium battery rather than either AA or Lithium batteries. However, here come the postives... it's extremely light, comfortable, weather resistant, and is as bright as a car headlight on fullbeam... it's actually quite amazing how many lumins this headtorch can pump out and for so long. In standard mode you really do get 900 lumins for over 4 hours. I know because I've tried it! At the 600lm setting I even got over 7 hours recently. It is in Reactive Lighting mode however where this headtorch really, really shines (sorry couldnt help it!)... it takes a little getting used to but once in reactive mode the light automatically dims or strengthens depending on where you're looking. This means you get 1100lms (!!!) when looking in the far distance which is almost like using an anticraft light! When you're looking closer to home though the headtorch senses this and dims the lumins saving battery and stopping you from blinding people closeby. It really does work! In reactive mode my battery lasted longer than manual by about 1 to 2 hours while still feeling like I got more light. The added red light for nighttime map reading which doesn't ruin your night vision is another bonus and much missed on the previous model. Oh you can also lock the headtorch by long pressing the power button thereby resolving the need for a dedicated on/off switch. Remaining power levels are also indicated by temproary green lights over one of the lamps. Hopefully, the spare Petzl lithium batteries will get cheaper at some point but so far I don't think I'll need an extra. You get what you pay for here. Top quality. Top power and battery life. Overall, I highly recommend this head torch

Yes it does provide 1100 lm in MAX mode. It is a super shine (like car long distance headlights), but it does consume battery in 2h or so….

Hi Kamil, yes the Petzl Swift RL does have 1100lm. However, that lumin level is only available when using the Reactive Lighting Technology. So it´s not a lumin level you can manually turn on. Manual mode actually maxes out at 900lm. However, the extra 200 lumin is noticeable in reactive mode so defintely worth it. As is the red light mode so you don´t ruin your night vision. If you download the instruction manual from Petzl it´s all explained there. This is a truly outstanding headtorch. Probably one of the best out there a this price range.

Hello, in the description of the lamp it says that its power is 1100lm, while in the product selection there is only the 900lm option for purchase. Is this an older or newer version of the SWIFT RS headlamp?

Hi, when I purchased this article couple of weeks ago, this was my question. A have asked and the answer was that is new version of 1100 lm. When it arrived and open the box it was true. From the picture you can see that the new version is in red and black (main body) while the old one is in orange and white. There is also a difference in the headband. Nev version is colored in black and orange while the old is in light gray and orange. For me the red options of new version is better. Aleks

Hello, regarding your question the front is the 1100 lumens. Ignore the size section, it´s wrong. I bought it a month ago and I´m delighted. In Reactive Lighting® mode the battery lasts a long time and the light it gives is fantastic. The head support is very comfortable with the three elastic bands.
