Polartec Alpha is the latest evolution of synthetic insulation offering a rare combination of lightweight warmth and true breathability in a ´puffy´ style garment.



Because Polartec Alpha insulation is highly durable and more stable than other synthetic insulation products, more open-construction woven face and back fabrics can be selected to create an air permeable package.



This small amount of airflow rapidly draws moisture away from the body and allows Polartec Alpha to be worn in a wider range of activities compared to classic ´vapor barrier´ style insulation.

Most hard shell fabrics allow zero airflow. Even when compared to the best waterproof/breathable fabrics, Polartec NeoShell has over 2X the airflow.



This controlled exchange of air allows the process of convection to increase the transfer of moisture vapor. You won’t notice windchill. But you will feel drier.



The standard for waterproof.



For a fabric to be considered waterproof, it must withstand the industry’s requirement in hydrostatic head tests of 10,000mm of water pressure.



Anything beyond this point is unnecessary as it won’t keep you any drier. You’re dry at 10,000mm. You won’t stay drier with a higher number. But you’ll likely be wetter from sweat.

Pertex® Microlight is made from tightly woven yarns. When used in sleeping bags the dense weave will prevent excessive heat loss through the fabric.



This will actually make the sleeping bag warmer without adding weight. Using 33 decitex/30 denier yarns, it is both downproof and windproof, water-repellent and durable.



Perfected during intensive research and development, Pertex® Microlight has proved to be a very successful product and is used today in many insulated apparel and sleeping bags around the world.
