This Buff heavyweight merino wool beanie style hat is snugly warm, comfortable and folds up small so you can put it in your coat pocket. It’s very well designed and made, and the colours of the ones I have are rich and subdued looking. Merino wool is self-regulating and breathes well, so you won’t overheat when wearing it. Also, it tends to stay cleaner longer than acrylic type fabrics. I have a larger sized head, and the “one size” fits fine. (Please note that because it lacks the usual bulkiness of a traditional wool hat, it’s easy to lose or misplace, so be sure to keep it secure. I lost my first one, and immediately bought two more.) You won’t be disappointed with this hat.

My beanie has a semi-transparent silvery rubber-like loop in the middle of the hat on the outside. It's woven in the fabric and can't be simply removed but needs to be cut off. Is it safe to remove and did anyone else beanie come with this?

No, Buff Norval hat is warmer based on my experience. However this one looks less bulky on my head. Comfortable temp range from +5 to -10 degrees celsius
