Excellent sidecountry pack

I picked this up to replace my BD Bandit 10L, which after some 10 years had worn through with holes and finally broke a zipper. I expect this updated version to last me just as long. Overall this is a fantastic sidecountry bag, with full-unzip access, bladder storage, goggle pocket, ski & helmet carry, and an internal zip pouch. I still find the straps a bit short (a perennial issue with BD bags), and the backpanel feels a bit stiff (the Bandit didn't have one, so the bag felt like a part of my body). I will be removing the hip-belt, which on a bag this size is either in the way or rides too high. It's easy to cut off while keeping some remainder, and with two thread-buckles you can re-attach it if necessary. There is no key attachment in the inner mesh pocket, so I added a simple small carabiner to the closing clasp. For the reviewer who confused the bottom ice axe loop for the ski carry, the ski strap is tucked into a secret pocket (fantastic design BD). Overall, this is a wicked bag and will server my daily Whistler-Blackcomb missions well.
